Our Staff

The Oak Clinic is staffed with specialists who have received advanced training in the care of patients with multiple sclerosis. Our physicians are members of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers.


Timothy J. Carrabine, MD, MSCS, Clinic Director

Tim is an internal medicine physician and certified MS specialist who has practiced in the Akron area since 1988. In 2000 he left his practice to specialize in treating multiple sclerosis. He is a graduate of Creighton College of Medicine and is certified through the American Board of Ambulatory Medicine. He is an instructor at Akron General Medical Center and the Northeast Ohio University College of Medicine (NEOUCOM).

 

Lauren Junk, CNP, Certified Nurse Practitioner

Lauren grew up in Akron.  She received a degree in exercise physiology from Ohio University, a degree in nursing from Walsh University and has recently graduated from the University of Akron as an Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner. Lauren will be joining the Oak Clinic in September and will be seeing patients on Monday and Thursday. Lauren and her husband Chris and their canine friend, Charlie, live in Akron.

Shelle Sponseller, Medical Secretary

Shelle has nearly 25 years in the medical field. Shelle coordinates your appointments, referrals, treatments and procedures.

 

Marge Hein, Medical Secretary

Marge has over 25 years in the medical field. Marge coordinates your appointments, referrals, treatments and procedures. Marge does coordination and evaluations for clinical research.

 

 

 

 

Christopher A. Sheppard, MD, Medical Director

Chris is a neurologist practicing in the Akron area since 1982. He is a graduate of NEOUCOM and is a professor of internal medicine there. Chris is also Chief of Neurology at both NEOUCOM and Akron General Medical Center. He directs clinical and basic research at Oak Clinic. Chris is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also a member of the Medical Advisory Council of the Ohio Buckeye chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

 

Suzanne (Sue) Arnold, MA, Development Director

Sue grew up in Ohio but has lived all over the US and in China and Canada. She most recently served as the Executive Director of the Association for Chinese and Mongolia International Schools. Prior to living in China, she developed and obtained funding for a literacy program in the schools of Hancock County, Ohio. She holds a Master of Arts in Literacy from Ohio State University.

Tricia L. Jones, LSW, Social Worker, Practice Manager

Tricia is a licensed social worker. She is an Akron University graduate with an Associate Degree in handicap services and a Bachelor of Arts in social work. Tricia is a certified mediator. She has been working in the medical field since 1993.

Patricia L. Blake, BSN, MSCN, RN

Patti is certified with the International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses (IOMSN) and a registered nurse. She is a graduate of the University of Akron and has practiced nursing since 1985. Patti also serves as the Research Advocate for the Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

 

Melissa Rojas, LPN

Melissa graduated from Southern Ohio College in 2001 with applied associates in medical science. Melissa then continued her education and graduated from Fortis College as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). She has been working in the medical field since 2001.
