Dr. Timothy J. Carrabine

M.D., MSCS, Clinic Director

Dr. Timothy J. Carrabine is a certified Multiple Sclerosis (MS) specialist and has been a dedicated practitioner at The Oak Clinic since 2001. He graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.

​

Dr. Carrabine started his medical career in 1988, practicing internal medicine in the Akron area. In 2000, he decided to specialize in treating multiple sclerosis, bringing his extensive knowledge and experience to The Oak Clinic. 

 

Dr. Carrabine is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC). Outside work, he enjoys bike riding and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He finds great joy in helping his patients manage their multiple sclerosis and live their best lives. Dr. Carrabine is dedicated to being a helpful resource and a supportive presence during challenging times. He feels very fortunate to work with the exceptional staff at The Oak Clinic and values the compassionate care they provide to each patient. Dr. Carrabine's dedication and empathy make him a respected and valued member of The Oak Clinic team.

Dr. Christopher Sheppard

M.D., Medical Director

​Dr. Christopher Sheppard brings over 24 years of dedicated medical expertise as Medical Director at The Oak Clinic. Dr. Sheppard's medical journey began with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Akron, followed by an M.D. from Northeast Ohio Medical University.

 

As a seasoned neurologist at Cleveland Clinic Akron General, Dr. Sheppard has developed a profound understanding of neurological conditions, with a specialized focus on multiple sclerosis (MS). His commitment to advancing MS treatment and care is evident through his active involvement in organizations such as the American Academy of Neurology, the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers, and the Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Sheppard's extensive experience and dedication to patient care make him a pivotal figure in the MS community.

His leadership at The Oak Clinic ensures patients receive compassionate, cutting-edge care tailored to their needs. Dr. Sheppard is passionate about improving the quality of life for individuals with MS and continues contributing to the field through clinical practice and ongoing research.

Dr. Jenna Brunn

M.D.

Dr. Brunn brings extensive expertise to our clinic. She holds a BS degree from Ohio State University and an MD from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. Her specialized training includes a residency in Adult Neurology and a Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis Fellowship at the University of Michigan.

​

With a strong background in research, Dr. Brunn is passionate about advancing patient education and advocating for women’s health, particularly in reproductive health for women with MS. Her work has been published in numerous medical journals, and she has contributed her knowledge and skills through committee work and volunteerism since her medical school years.

​

Dr. Brunn is a member of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and participates in Neurology on the Hill through AAN, where she meets with state lawmakers in Washington, DC, to educate them about the critical role of neurologists in health care and advocate for needed reforms for patients. She will be attending Neurology on the Hill in February of 2025.

​

Dr. Brunn resides in Copley with her husband, Jason, and their sons, Jacob and Cameron. She is currently welcoming new patients at The Oak Clinic.

Lauren Junk

Certified Nurse Practitioner

​Lauren Junk is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner at The Oak Clinic. Based in Akron, Ohio, Lauren is an Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner (APRN) and a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Nurse (MSCN), bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role.

​

Since 2011, Lauren has been committed to providing comprehensive care for MS patients. Lauren's dedication to her field is further demonstrated by her involvement with the International Organization of MS Nurses (IOMSN) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). In recognition of her exceptional contributions to MS care, Lauren was honored with the MS Nightingale Award in 2021.

​

She believes in having enough time to listen to and understand her patients, fostering strong relationships to provide personalized care. Outside of her professional life, Lauren enjoys spending time with her family and traveling to national parks. Her passion for patient care and love for The Oak Clinic shine through in her daily work, making her an invaluable team member.

Carly Pham

Certified Nurse Practitioner

​Carly Pham is a Nurse Practitioner at The Oak Clinic with a strong background in nursing and patient care. Originally from Uniontown, Ohio, Carly holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Nursing from Walsh University. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Nurse (MSCN). With 13 years of experience as an ICU nurse and two years in Family Practice, Carly has been a valued member of The Oak Clinic for the past five years. She is an active member of the International Organization of MS Nurses, highlighting her commitment to ongoing professional development and excellence in the field.

​Carly is passionate about her work and draws inspiration from the people she interacts with daily—her patients and co-workers. Outside of her professional life, Carly enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband Truy and their two daughters, Nola (8) and Quynh (7). Her hobbies include running, reading, shopping, and traveling. Carly's dedication to her patients and positive influence on the clinic's environment make her an integral part of The Oak Clinic team.

Tricia L. Jones

Chief Operating Officer

Patricia Jones is the Chief Operating Officer at The Oak Clinic, with nearly 20 years of service. A Stow, Ohio native, she holds degrees in Handicapped Services and Social Work from the University of Akron. Patricia’s expertise spans patient care, infusion suite management, human resources, public speaking, and insurance management.

 

Prior to joining The Oak Clinic, she spent 13 years at Akron General Medical Center in Social Work and Care Management. Patricia also serves on advisory boards and speaks nationally for companies like Biogen and Genentech.

​

Patricia loves providing essential care to patients and their families and values working with a dedicated team. In her free time, she enjoys family, her dogs, and helping others.

Catie Dunn

Clinic Nurse/

Clinical Research Coordinator

Catie Dunn brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role at The Oak Clinic. Holding a BSN, MSCN, and a BS in Community Health Education, she is well-equipped with the knowledge and skills essential for providing top-notch care. Catie is proficient in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and serves as a Clinical Research Coordinator. With a background that includes medical-surgical nursing and women's health, Catie's comprehensive expertise significantly benefits our patients. She is also an active member of the International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses (IOMSN) and has earned the prestigious Multiple Sclerosis Certified Nurse (MSCN) designation. Catie has been an integral part of The Oak Clinic for six years, four dedicated to infusion nursing and two in her current role. She is passionate about helping patients overcome the challenges of multiple sclerosis and values the opportunity to collaborate with a team of exceptional physicians, nurses, and staff. Outside of work, Catie enjoys running, spending quality time with her family, and watching her boys play sports.

Rashelle (Shelle) Sponseller

Clinic Nurse/Infusion Nurse

Shelle is a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) at The Oak Clinic. Hailing from Uniontown, Shelle brings her expertise as an infusion and clinic nurse, roles she has passionately fulfilled for the past eight years. Before her current position, she worked as a Medical Assistant, gaining valuable experience that enhances her nursing practice today.

 

​Shelle is a member of the Ohio Board of Nursing, reflecting her commitment to maintaining high standards in her profession. Her interests and hobbies include running, hiking, reading, and volunteering at Camp Cool, showcasing her active and community-oriented lifestyle.

​

What Shelle loves most about her job is interacting with patients and being able to relate to some of the struggles they experience. She finds joy in helping patients with the care they need during their infusion or appointment. Her compassion and dedication make her an invaluable member of The Oak Clinic team.

Melissa Rojas

Licensed Practical Nurse

Melissa Rojas is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at The Oak Clinic. She graduated from Southern Ohio College in 2001 with an Applied Associate's degree in Medical Science and later continued her education at Fortis College, where she earned her LPN certification. Over her 11-year career, Melissa has accumulated valuable experience, including serving as a charge nurse at Rockynol Retirement Facility and working as an LPN with Pioneer Physicians. Melissa is passionate about patient care and finds great joy in her interactions with them. She strives to provide them with the best possible support and attention. Her dedication to her patients matches her enthusiasm for her work and commitment to improving their quality of life. In her free time, Melissa loves traveling and spending time with her family. Her compassionate approach and professional skills make her an integral member of The Oak Clinic family.

Sue Shannon

Infusion Manager/Nurse

Sue Shannon is the dedicated Infusion Manager and Nurse at The Oak Clinic, where she has been making a difference for 13 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is a certified MS nurse (MSCN) and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Sue is an active member of the International Organization of MS Nurses. She is recognized for her professional achievements, including being a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Nurse and obtaining her Health Coach Certification. Her extensive experience and compassionate care have made her a trusted figure at The Oak Clinic.

 

Outside of work, Sue enjoys gardening, photography, and spending quality time with her family and friends. She treasures the relationships she builds with her patients and their families, many of whom she has been treating for years. Sue values the supportive and collaborative environment of The Oak Clinic, considering it a special place where both staff and patients form a remarkable community.

Mallory Neumann

Infusion Nurse

Mallory Neumann is a dedicated Infusion Nurse at The Oak Clinic. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion and Health Education from Coastal Carolina University and a Bachelor's in Science and Nursing from Walsh University. With over 10 years of experience caring for patients with various neurological diagnoses, Mallory brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role. Her professional journey includes working in the Neurology Step-down Unit at Akron General and the Neurological ICU at Ohio Health. She is also a proud member of the International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses and a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Nurse (MSCN). Mallory has been an integral part of The Oak Clinic for 8 years. She values the opportunity to create lasting relationships with both staff and patients. Her passion for patient care and her ability to form meaningful connections make her an invaluable asset to the team.

Sarah Good

Infusion Nurse/Compliance Officer

Sarah Good is an Infusion Nurse and Compliance Officer at The Oak Clinic, where she has been on the team for six years. Originally from St. Mary's, Ohio, Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. With 11 years of emergency room experience at Akron City and Akron General and three years in home care, she brings expertise to her role.

​

Beyond her clinical skills, Sarah is known for her keen observation and knack for starting IVs. She’s also an avid basketball player and coach enjoys gardening, and cherishes time with her family through drives, movie nights, and fireside chats.

Courtney Dutton

Infusion Nurse

Courtney Dutton is a dedicated Infusion Nurse at The Oak Clinic, bringing expertise and compassion to her role. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. With 10 years of experience in physical rehabilitation nursing, Courtney specializes in patient transfers and neurological diagnoses. Prior to joining The Oak Clinic, she served as a Nursing Supervisor at Summa Rehab Hospital and was an active member of the TBI CARF Committee. Over her two years at The Oak Clinic, Courtney has become an integral part of the team and is known for her dedication to patients and coworkers.

Courtney is passionate about gardening, hand lettering, and watercolor and enjoys reading in her spare time. She loves being part of The Oak Clinic family and cherishes the connections she builds with patients and colleagues.

Amy McEwen

Licensed Practical Nurse/Homecare

Amy McEwen, an LPN from Norton, brings 28 years of experience to The Oak Clinic. She has thrived in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, independent homecare, and children’s care. With a strong foundation in homecare, Amy is dedicated to providing one-on-one patient support. She finds fulfillment in helping patients feel good about themselves and sharing moments of laughter and emotional support.

Amy has been part of The Oak Clinic team for four years. Outside of work, she enjoys remodeling her home, with plans to return to knitting and traveling.

Devon Rose

Authorization Administrative Assistant

Devon Rose is the Authorization Administrative Assistant at The Oak Clinic. With 22 years of extensive experience in medical billing, Devon plays a crucial role in managing benefits and authorizations and scheduling patient MRIs. Her thorough knowledge and dedication ensure patients receive timely and accurate support in navigating their healthcare needs. With seven years at The Oak Clinic, Devon finds great satisfaction in assisting people and contributing to a supportive and caring environment. In her personal time, Devon enjoys reading, solving puzzles, baking, and cooking. Her passion for helping others and her commitment to her work make her a valued member of The Oak Clinic team.

Rachel Washington

Patient Accounts/Billing

Rachel serves in Patient Accounts and Billing at The Oak Clinic, bringing over 10 years of expertise in medical billing. Originally from Minneapolis, she holds a diploma in medical billing and has been a valuable part of The Oak Clinic team for six years.

Rachel enjoys working with the clinic's dedicated staff and wonderful patients. In her free time, she loves to travel, exploring new places and experiences.

Erin Chmielewski

Administrative Assistant

Erin Chmielewski is an Administrative Assistant at The Oak Clinic, where she has been a dedicated team member for six years. A native of Green, Ohio, Erin holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine and Applied Arts. She brings over 10 years of hospital experience to her role, helping patients navigate Medicare, schedule appointments, and manage their out-of-pocket costs.

Erin loves interacting with patients and being part of a supportive, family-like work environment. Outside of work, she enjoys playing sports like basketball, softball, and volleyball, attending her kids’ sporting events, working out, spending time with family and friends, and traveling to the beach. Erin’s commitment to patient care and her positive outlook make her a valued member of the team.

Marge Hein

Administrative Assistant

Marge Hein serves as an Administrative Assistant at The Oak Clinic, bringing her warmth and expertise to the front desk. Marge has an impressive 40 years of experience as a medical receptionist, having worked in a pediatric office before joining The Oak Clinic. With 18 years of dedicated service at The Oak Clinic, Marge is known for her friendly and welcoming demeanor. She loves interacting with people and thrives in the clinic, making patients and visitors feel comfortable and well-cared for from the moment they walk in. In her personal life, Marge enjoys indulging in chocolate, trying her luck at gambling, participating in trivia games, and bowling. She is also a dog lover, finding joy in the companionship of her furry friends. Marge’s passion for her work and ability to create a positive atmosphere makes her an invaluable member of The Oak Clinic team.

Sam Petrey

Administrative Assistant

Sam Petrey is an Administrative Assistant at The Oak Clinic, bringing over a year and a half of dedicated service to the team. She is from Hartville and holds a certificate in medical billing. Before her current role, Sam gained experience working in primary care for over 19 years.

Sam enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, going on vacations, and caring for her pug, Begonia. What she loves most about her job is interacting with patients and working alongside her co-workers. 

Sue Arnold

Director of Development

Sue Arnold is the esteemed Director of Development and Education at The Oak Clinic. She leverages her extensive background in education and leadership to enhance the clinic's outreach and educational programs. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Education. With a diverse career that includes roles such as retail ownership, Literacy Specialist, Director of the Chinese & Mongolian School Association, and OSU 4-H Agent, Sue brings a wealth of experience and a passion for learning and development to her current position. Sue is involved in several organizations, including the Green Great 8 Race Series and the National Hay Association. She has been a dedicated The Oak Clinic team member for 11 years. In her free time, Sue enjoys sewing and spending quality time at her farm with her family. She also loves meeting new people and learning from them, which is one of the aspects of her job that she enjoys most.

Kendall Hegan

Development Intern

Kendall Hegan is from Ligonier, Pennsylvania, and is studying Marketing at the University of Akron. She plans to graduate in 2027. She grew up in a rural area where community was an important part of everyday life, which drew her to the welcoming environment of The Oak Clinic.

Kendall works alongside Sue Arnold in Development, contributing to the clinic’s efforts to support individuals living with MS. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking, needlepoint, and sewing.
