Wellness Wednesday | Nature Rx Program

On March 19th, our Wellness Wednesday session brought a refreshing breath of fresh air...literally! We were thrilled to welcome Dr. Meghan Weiner from Pioneer Physicians and Kimberly LoVano from the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park to share the healing power of nature through the Nature Rx program.

What is Nature Rx?

Nature Rx is a wellness initiative led by the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, focused on the scientifically proven health benefits of spending time in nature. From lowering stress and blood pressure to improving sleep and mood, nature can play a vital role in supporting both mental and physical well-being. The program offers a variety of ways to connect with nature—including self-guided experiences, expert-led hikes, mindfulness walks, and journaling activities. For those who can’t get outdoors as often, Nature Rx even shares creative ways to bring the calming influence of nature indoors.

Highlights from the Session

Dr. Meghan Weiner spoke about crafting an indoor "naturescape" that engages all five senses, offering tips on how to create calming, nature-inspired environments at home. Whether it’s the sound of a bubbling fountain, the scent of essential oils, or the sight of natural light and greenery; small changes can make a big difference.

Kimberly LoVano gave an engaging overview of the Nature Rx program and the many resources and events available through the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park. She also shared information about the park itself, a local gem that offers miles of scenic trails, peaceful spots for reflection, and a welcoming place for everyone to experience the benefits of the natural world.
