About Us

Our Mission

The Oak Clinic is a nonprofit outpatient facility that strives to treat and empower individuals living with MS regardless of their ability to pay.

A multidisciplinary team of professionals provides quality medical care, carries out psychosocial needs assessments, provides educational and supportive services to our clients and their families to improve their health, functioning, and overall quality of life, and conducts clinical and basic scientific research to develop new knowledge about the cause, diagnosis, and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis.

We focus on treating the whole patient for this lifelong disease. We provide medical care, nursing, physical and occupational therapy, social services, education, rehabilitation, and opportunities for social enrichment.

Research

Multiple sclerosis continues to be one of the most researched diseases in the United States. Decades of study sponsored by the National Institute for Neurological Disease and Stroke and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society have advanced our understanding of its mysteries. Despite this, much work remains to be done.

Dr. Chris Sheppard directs both clinical and basic research at Oak Clinic. All research is conducted within the context of the Clinic’s holistic approach to clients.

The confidentiality, dignity, and trust of each individual involved in a research project are strictly maintained.

Attention to Detail

Every Oak Clinic patient and their family are treated with special care and attention. Patients are given the time they need to understand the treatments available to them and make an informed decision based on their particular situation.

We are proud when our patients refer to the Oak Clinic as their 'home' and our medical staff as their 'family.'
